Knockout Criteria

This is my most important criterion when considering a position:

  • What service is used to provide Auth+SSO (O365, Google, LLNG, Okta, etc.)?

  • Describe the worst outage, at this company, that you were a part of.

    • What was your role in the recovery effort?

    • What was the root cause, and how was the problem addressed?

  • How heavily is LLM used in daily work?

  • Describe how you interact with tickets, and keep track of your progress.

  • How much of your day is spent contributing to a git repository?

  • Describe the current state of documentation.

  • What will success look like at the end of 6 months and 1 year?

  • What is the typical work pace and task saturation?

HR:

  • How is health insurance handled (stipened, BC/BS, etc.)?

Other good questions, if time permits:

  • Can you describe your opinion of the difference between a junior and senior engineer?

  • Bring your own device or company-provided/-managed?

  • What was your most challenging project at this current role?
